Vanessa Amorosi’s Gangland Gigs

May 21, 2008

Vanessa Amorosi’s Gangland GigsSinger Vanessa Amorosi has revealed on live radio how much she “loved” singing at the parties of high-profile gangsters like Carl Williams.

Amorosi admitted to Nova FM radio listeners that she felt it was “amazing” to sing at convicted criminal Carl Williams’ daughter’s christening party at Melbourne’s Crown Casino.

“They had a room in the [Crown] casino all done up… I remember at some point in the night during the show thinking no one will get up and dance and if I start singin’ bad I’m just gonna get shot,” she said.

Amorosi, who shot to fame during the Sydney Olympics with her track Absolutely Everybody, said that she used to enjoy the gangland gigs so much because the gangsters knew how to look after her, and spoilt her “rotten.”

“[They] want you to eat and give you wine and are constantly catering and looking after you,” the singer explained.

“They spoil me rotten, I love it,” she added. “Usually it’s like, ‘Amorosi and the band are here, take them to that room, get rid of them, hide them’.”

However, earning the big dollars and enjoying wine with gangland bosses isn’t always so enjoyable, and Amorosi often quipped to her bandmates about the high-risk situation they’d put themselves in.

“I was like, ‘Let’s make sure it’s a killer show, guys, or it could be a killer ending,’” she said.

When approached by the media today, Amorosi’s management refused to comment on the content of her Nova FM interview.
