Sam Newman Returns to Footy Show

After a whirlwind six weeks of cancer treatment, Sam Newman will return to Nine Network’s AFL Footy Show tonight.

Newman was first diagnosed with the deadly prostate cancer just six weeks ago, after a routine blood test to check his cholesterol levels found evidence of the illness. Â

Just three weeks later he was rushed in for surgery to remove his cancerous prostate, causing him to miss the first two shows of the season. However, Newman says he is fit and ready to return to the helm, and will remain with the show for the rest of the season, despite having follow-up treatment scheduled.

“He’s feeling better and is up and mobile,” a Nine spokeswoman said yesterday.

On the show tonight for Newman’s comeback include Tigers star Nathan Brown, St Kilda’s Nick Dal Santo and Brownlow medallist Shane Crawford.
