Queensland Poetry Festival Countdown Begins
March 25, 2008
The countdown to this year’s Queensland Poetry Festival is in full swing, with the program for the 4-day event set to be released any day now.
The annual event is one of the biggest and finest poetry festivals in Australia, and this year takes place from August 22-24th at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.
Many of Australia’s top poets (including Queensland’s own sensation Pascalle Burton), as well as a number of international acts are set to perform at this year’s event, with poet in residence Paul Durcan taking centre stage.
The competitions for the 2008 festival have already begun, with the cream of the crop, The Thomas Shapcott Award for an unpublished manuscript, set to be revealed over the course of the event.
