Channel 10 Snags New Aussie Soap
February 1, 2008
After a bidding war in the U.K. over long-running Australian soap, Neighbours, Channel 10 has decided to go ahead with another soap, in the hopes of boosting local drama content for 2008.
The new series, titled Out Of The Blue, is likely to be aired in mid-2008, and will feature a regular cast of 20, including up-and-comer Sophie Katinis, Zoe Carides from Grass Roots, Clayton Watson from Always Greener, and Daisy Betts from Sea Patrol fame.
At this stage, Ten are not sure exactly how the program will be aired. It will either be shown five nights a week like its sister show, Neighbours, or edited into two one-hour episodes per week.
Ten Programming Chief David Mott said earlier today: “We are thrilled to have secured Out Of The Blue.
“Out Of The Blue has a great script, exciting casting and is a fresh and engaging series from the very first minute.”
Shooting for the new series, which is about a group of old friends who gather for a school reunion involved in a murder mystery, is about to start in Manly, New South Wales, shortly.
