BB’s Saxon on his Eviction

May 13, 2008

Big Brother’s Saxon: The First Official Evicted Housemate for 2008Big Brother’s first official evicted housemate, Saxon, has spoken out on his time in the house, sitting down with Ninemsn’s TV Fix and chatting about everything from his UFO obsession to who he thinks will win this year’s reality series.

Q. Have you had a long day doing interviews?

A. It’s been a long day so far! [Laughs]

Q. What’s the question you’ve been asked most?

A. “Tell me about the UFO thing”.

Q. Maybe I shouldn’t ask you about it then!

A. That’s fine, it gives me a chance to talk about it and say what I reckon.

Q. If there’s someone interested in learning about it, what’s an event that proves aliens are out there?

A. If you’ve got access to the internet, [information is] everywhere. Type in “Dulce Base” - it’s a base under the mountains in New Mexico, a joint US/extraterrestrial base where they do genetic testing and exchange technologies. There’s a lot of evidence.

Q. How much did you actually talk about it in the house?

A. It was hard, because every time I did talk about it I was shut down. I find it amazing that it’s quite normal to believe there’s a being out there who clicked his fingers and created the universe, but to believe there’s something out there beyond our solar system is silly. The odds are there are hundreds of different races out. I’m not sitting here saying “There’s definitely aliens out there”, just saying there’s a possibility.

Q. Getting back to your time in the house - why do you think the housemates chose to evict you on Sunday night?

A. I suppose because I was up against two very popular housemates. Rory is a great guy - a real down-to-earth dude, who genuinely has a lot of respect for people. But he says what he thinks, he doesn’t hold back. And Dave… he plays Mr Nice Guy, so that’s what saved him.

Q. You say he plays Mr Nice Guy - you think he’s putting it on?

A. Yes, I do. I’ve only just learned about this whole “cult” thing he was in - none of the housemates know about that. It’s amazing, because he was so quick to shut me down about my beliefs, yet he hasn’t told anyone he was part of a cult for however many years. He plays the policeman, the fireman, like he’s everyone’s friend, but people are starting to see through it.

Q. So in the long run, you reckon his true self will come out?

A. Yes. I might be wrong, but that’s how I saw it.

Q. Who else isn’t being themselves?

A. Ben could probably come out of his shell a little more, but Ben is the funniest guy in the house by far.

Q. We don’t really see that much of his funny side on the show.

A. The thing is, he’s got a real dry streak. He could quite easily be a stand-up comedian, he’s that funny. He just adds in these little witty one-liners, and everyone kills themselves laughing. But it’s never really enough to show for television, and half the time it’s quite rude as well!

Q. How big is the actual house inside? On TV it looks massive.

A. It’s not massive - the size of a normal house. It’s not too cramped, but half the time I was outside with Nobbi anyway.

Q. Do you reckon Big Brother will let him back in eventually?

A. I bloody hope so. He deserves it - he’s the best entertainment in that house, I can guarantee you.

Q. On TV we see him joking a lot about being stuck outside, but do you think it’s genuinely getting to him?

A. Yeah. The only time it really gets to him is when we’re all inside having a big house discussion, and he’s left out. Because he’s got such a strong input on things like that, and if he was in there, some of the arguments it’d create would be hilarious.

Q. Sunday was the first proper elimination show, Kyle and Jackie O’s first time. How do you think they went?

A. I thought they did good. I know everyone bags the hell out of Kyle, but I reckon he’s good. He’s real witty and real off the mark, and he’s been real nice to me. I’ve got nothing bad to say about him. I was on his radio show this morning, and he’s genuinely a really nice guy - we had a good chat. And Jackie’s beautiful.

Q. Was that a genuine apology you offered to Terri after your fight on the weekend?

A. It was. That fight was a bit of the old me coming out, and I told her, “The reason I snapped at you is because you’re an easy target. And it’s a horrible thing to do, and that’s why I was a bad person before”. It wasn’t right, but I’m trying to get away from that.

Q. Is that a resolution you made going into the house, or had you already started?

A. It was something I was going into the house to do. I think I’m on my way to changing myself - I was talking to people, becoming friend with people, who I never would’ve normally talked to. I’m a blokey bloke, a concreter, love going to the pub with the boys, my beer, my footy, and I’m sitting in the house being friends with a guy wearing love-heart sunglasses and a high voice. That shows how much I move forward.

Q. Is Travis’s voice as unbearable in real life as it is on TV?

A. It’s really not that bad. You end up getting used to it. And he’s got such a loveable personality that you can’t get angry with him. I’ve never met someone who doesn’t hate anything. The food we had in there was so bad yet he found a positive in it. He’s the most unique person I’ve met in my life.

Q. Could he win?

A. I think he could, but I would like Nobbi to win.
