Critics Label Johansson’s Album “Forgettable”

Looks like Scarlett Johansson will have to revert to her day job!

The actress-turned-singer’s debut album, Anywhere I Lay My Head, has been slammed by the critics, who’ve labelled the star’s recordings as “fussy and forgettable.”

Johansson’s 40-minute-long CD is a collection of Tom Waits covers, and was released in stores this week. The first single released from the album, Falling Down, seems to have predicted what was to come for the Boleyn Girl actress, with her career in the music industry looking unsteady after so many lukewarm reviews.

However, her boring covers weren’t the only thing to come under the harsh critique, with Johansson’s vocal abilities coping the worst of the criticism.

Rolling Stone gave the 23-year-old a measly 2.5 stars out of 5, complaining that her voice is “unremarkable and [the] pitch sometimes unsteady.”

Added the Stone: “[Johansson’s] a faintly goth Marilyn Manson lost in a sonic fog.”

She received an average “C” grade from Entertainment Weekly for her efforts, who also said the star had an “expressionless voice” that was concealed “deeply in the druggy ambiance.”

Staralicious gave the young Johansson perhaps the toughest review of all, saying that the actress had “a [singing] voice like a man.”

Lindsay Offered Free Blonde Mink

A New York club owner who’s pro-Lohan has offered to settle the unfortunate mess made by the ’stolen mink coat’ debacle, and is even willing to throw a free mink into the deal!

John Englebert, owner of NYC hotspots Prime and Suzie Wong, is disgusted at the “spoilt brat” behaviour of Masha Markova (the ’stolen’ mink’s rich owner) and wants to help Lindsay out by settling the lawsuit Markova has slapped on the Mean Girls star.

As well as fixing up the suit, Englebert is prepared to give Lohan a brand new $11,000 blonde mink coat - just like the one she allegedly took by mistake - for free!

How could LiLo say no to that?

Alba’s Brother Shocked at Secret Nuptials

The Monday courthouse wedding of Jessica Alba and Cash Warren was so secret, not even the Awake actress’ brother, Josh, was told, and only found out about the wedding when contacted by Us Weekly magazine.

When asked by the mag what he thought of his sister’s shock wedding, Josh Alba replied: “My sister!? I’m going to have to call her!”

Once he’d gotten over his surprise at the news, he cleverly side-stepped the question of whether or not he thought Warren was a “good suitor” for his older sister. “Well, he’s my brother-in-law now!” Alba said.

The newlyweds didn’t tell any of their family and friends about their intentions to wed because they were so desperate to keep their nuptials secret from the press.

Jessica and Cash tied the knot in a private courthouse ceremony in L.A. on Monday, around 40 minutes after applying for a marriage license. The pair got engaged in December shortly after Alba confirmed her pregnancy to the media.

Alba had previously stated that she would not marry while she had a baby bump.

Not Her Greatest Fashion Moment…

Cate Blanchett might have shone at the Cannes premiere of her new movie Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (mouthful!), but her star wasn’t shining so bright in the fashion stakes at the films’ Aussie debut.

Blanchett, who’s just about my favourite actress on the scene, usually gets it so right whenever she steps out in front of the cameras; however, last night’s bronze puff-ball was a little lack-lustre for me.

While her hair and make-up looked divine (as always), I was a little disappointed to see her fabulous post-baby body hidden beneath an unflattering metallic shirt dress.

At least she turned up to the premiere back home, though!

New Couple Alert: Winona & Keanu?

I’m not sure how true this is, but according to Star magazine, Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves are Hollywood’s latest hot hook-up.

The pair have apparently been “getting really cosy” on and off the set of their new film, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. A source revealed that Ryder and Reeves are “always hugging on the set,” adding that “the chemistry [between them] is really electric.”

During a recent break in filming, Ryder reportedly flew to NYC with Keanu and stayed with the Matrix actor at his Manhattan apartment.

Lindsay Mistaken For Courtney Love

You know you’re in trouble when people start to confuse you with a drugged up, plastic surgery-addicted ho-bag, and for Lindsay Lohan, being mistaken for Courtney Love means she’s pretty much hit the bottom of the barrel!

LiLo was eating lunch at a restaurant in L.A. recently when she was apparently mistaken for the aged rocker. A group of fans started screaming, “Courtney! Courtney!” a source told Star magazine.

“[Lindsay] was looking extremely pale,” the source continued. “You know things are going downhill when you get mistaken for an ex-druggie plastic surgery disaster who’s twice your age!”

See kids, this is what happens when you play with drugs… you end up looking like Lindsay Courtney…

Steven Tyler in Rehab

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has reportedly checked himself into a California rehab centre, TMZ has revealed.

The father of actress Liv Tyler, who turned 60 in March, is staying at the Las Encinas Hospital drug rehabilitation clinic in Pasadena, the same facility where reality show Celebrity Rehab was recently filmed.

Tyler is getting treatment for a substance abuse problem.

At this stage, the musicians’ rep has refused to comment.

Nick Hogan Not Liking Jail

Friends say that poor pampered Nick Hogan is not doing well in jail.

“Nick’s doing really bad. He’s struggling to even form a sentence,” one friend said. “They have him in a cell by himself, isolated from the general population, because of threats. He didn’t understand how awful jail really is until now.”

Nick has developed a strange rash around his mouth and is complaining of having a sore ass and having to answer to ‘bitch’ - Nah, not really, I just made that last bit up….

But really, he’s struggling to form a sentence? Please.

I can sense a transfer or early release plea coming up, stay tuned.

Sharon Stone Covers Up in Cannes

Actress Sharon Stone did something in Cannes that she doesn’t normally do… she actually wore clothing (and I’m not talking a measly bikini, either!).

Ms. Stone looked half-way decent in her diamond Dior sandals and flowing animal print dress as she attended the premiere of the movie Changeling at the Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France, yesterday.

Her simple look was certainly a nice change from the Stone we’re all used to.

Brooke Hogan Cracking Up

Even though Nick Hogan is the one doing time, it is his older sister Brooke who seems to be doing most of the suffering.

“She’s suffering the worst of all; she just can’t keep it together and has been hit the hardest, she is extremely sensitive and her emotions are spiraling out of control. Brooke’s relationship with her father was severely strained after his reported infidelity with her former friend made news in February.”

Brooke’s father HUlk Hogan is putting a lot of the blame for the family’s troubles at the foot of their reality TV show, which he admitted in court is not reality at all, but totally scripted.

“I was offered lots of [reality] shows when I was making my career comeback against The Rock, but I kept saying no. But years later, it was my daughter’s career and son’s racing career that we were thinking about.”

“We saw the Ashlee Simpson show and Jessica Simpson’s and Lindsay Lohan on the big screen and we just didn’t haven’t a vehicle to compete,” he said. “But I considered it, because this time it was about the Hogan family rather than Hulk Hogan; they all wanted to do it and I tried to warn them about what they were in for. Now look what happened.”

Gee, who’d have thought that their reality show is not real at all??? None of it looked scripted to me…….
